today i discovered LibraryThing, a free tool that lets a person create a library catalogue of their books. more importantly, it allows users to tag and share their collections in the folksonomic spirit of social software like flickr and del.icio.us.
adding titles to my library collection was easy; i simply searched within LibraryThing for the title or ISBN. in most cases, the search returned book covers along with the bibliographic information.
LibraryThing uses Z39.50 to search out a variety of sources including several amazons (amazon.ca, amazon.co.uk, amazon.com) as well as other libraries including Library of Congress and even the University of Calgary Library.
i have added a LibraryThing widget to the sidebar which displays books at random out of the bibliogoddess collection.
add to my library –
see my bibliogoddess wishlist!

If you edit your post and in those places where you link to wikipedia, you put rel=”tag” in the anchor tag, then many places will treat those links as folksonomy tags. Your article will get “all tagged up” for almost zero effort.
